EquiTens

Welcome to EQUITENS. A portable EMS/TENS device designed for horses.  Equitens is a gentle electrical stimulation device designed to support relaxation and comfort in horses. It uses adhesive pads that release pulses to the surface of the muscles. These pulses help to ease general muscular tension, encourage circulation and promote overall wellbeing. Used as part of your general horse care, this device cannot be used or intended for diagnosis or treatment of medical conditions.

EQUITENS Pad Placement

- Pads must always be placed on large muscle groups, such as the neck, shoulder, back or hindquarters. If it is the horses first time, you may want to use the small pad, on setting 1 knead on the large hindquarters muscle.

- Wherever you apply the pad on one side, should be repeated on the opposite side symmetrically. ( Right Gluteal/Left Gluteal)

- NEVER place pads on the limbs, joints, spine , head or around the heart area.

We advise using the tens for up-to 10 minutes, when the horse is comfortable this can build unto 20 minutes. Always remember to use the device on both the near and offside muscles (symmetically)

Areas to place the pads

Small pad (Back & Topline, Neck muscles, Shoulder area, Hindquarters)

Large pad (Back, Hindquarters)

Below is an image showing where pads can be placed (circled)

Back/Top-line - Pads can sit over the large muscles than run alongside the spine ( not too close to the spine) This helps support general back softness and relaxation.

Neck - Pad can be placed along the crest or lower neck wherever the horse holds tension. Avoid bony areas

Shoulder - Pad can be placed on the large deltoid muscle of the horses shoulder on a gentle setting

Hindquarters - Pad can be positioned over the main gluteal muscle this will treat the biceps and hamstrings and lower back on a more intense setting. Gradually build up the intensity and watch how your horse is responding.

Your device settings

The EQUITENS self adhesive pad easily attaches to human skin. Water or water based gel is required to conduct to the horses, since the fur acts as insulation.

The device comes with a USB cable and a USB-C attachment into the device.

Device programmes -

Relax - All round treatment form, which starts out gently warming up the muscles, then goes through the series tighten, intensify, knead, jitter and punch. This gives complete stimulation to muscles.

Tighten - Stimulating the muscles and relating in short intervals, increase circulation to the area.

Intensity - Starts soft and slowly increases intensity, to help remove tension from the area.

Knead - Deep stimulation to the muscles in quick intervals, to reduce pain and muscle tension.

Jitter - Short, fast intervals of stimulation, to loosen up the tissue and increase circulation to the area.

Punch - Short bursts of stimulation to the area, helps remove lactic acid from the tissues.

Precaution

The remote controller automatically turns off after 1 minute. To use the remote again, press the power button to turn it back on.

How to maintain your EquiTens

- Always store the EQUITENS pad with the protective film

- Remove hair and debris from the gel by dipping a finger in the water, carefully remove the debris from the gel. Let the pad air dry until there is no visible water on the pad and then put the protective film back on for storage.
