Thermal Imaging
Giving your horse a voice

Thermal Imaging is a fantastic way of gaining a physical picture of what your horse is feeling. We as horse owners know when our horses have a drop in performance, a change in behaviour or are just not feeling quite right.

The camera measures heat protons emitted from the horse and then converts them into electrical impulses that are shown as colour images on the camera screen. This technology allows us to detect abnormalities in our horses thermal patterns such as laminitis, early splints, fractures, soft tissue injuries, arthritis, kissing spines, nerve damage , inflammation and saddle fit issues.

A thermographer will create an in depth report of your horse to allow them to analyse the whole horse, any compensatory patterns. A qualified, trained Thermographer is essential, unfortunatly anyone can pick up a thermal camera these days, fairly inexpensive ones with poor resolution and point it at the horse, this does not only give false and unreliable results, but pixels and quality may not show a true temperature map. There is a strict protocol procedure to be taken place prior and during scans.

Prevention is better than cure!

Thermography allows you to pinpoint hidden injuries and inflammation. Sometimes inflammation can be seen upto two weeks before the issue becomes apparent.

Back problems

From muscular pain, to kissing spines, thermography can help us gain a deeper insight into our equines.

8 year old Polo Pony ^

Polo ponies are conditioned and trained predominantly on the right rein, when playing , the horses have to compute working on both the right and left canter leads. Stress on the right hindquarter muscles become a common sight in polo ponies.

No Foot ,No Horse...Right?

Abscess, Laminitis, twists and strains all become a nightmare, but having the technology to monitor conditions will allow for a speedy course of action.

Reliable, non- invasive and quick.

A quiet, portable camera which does not require any power outlet, no touch needs to be taken, therefore a completely stress free modality.
