Low-level laser therapy (LLLT) has been a popular modality in the physiotherapeutic management of musculoskeletal injuries and skin wounds in humans, dogs and horses for over 25 years (G.Munroe,2019). It is a non-invasive tool that helps to reduce inflammation and pain.
Low level laser therapy does not provide thermal reaction (heating the cells in the body) unlike other lasers which can be destructive to the cells. The laser works using a photochemical reaction, similar to photosynthesis. Using both laser and LED technology, wavelengths in the light stimulate the cells in the damaged area encouraging regeneration and natural healing. This process reduces inflammation and also provides pain relief.
How can LLLT benefit my horse?
Reduces inflammation and pain
Promotes quicker tissue repair ideal for open wounds
Encourages quicker healing of soft tissue injuries
Helps heal ligament and tendon injuries, sprains and strains
Easing back pain
Osteoarthritis
Improves arthritic conditions by reducing inflammation and easing pain
Assists the lymphatic system
Muscle Pain
and many more...
