How does Kinesiology Tape work?
Kinesiology tape stretches with the horse so there are no restrictions to movement. This makes it incredibly versatile as the tape can be used on a stationary horse or with a horse during movement as a training aid. The tape can be used to aid circulation in sore muscles or used for joint support.
The tape is designed especially for Equines and adheres to the coat lifting the hair follicle which is situated two layers deep into the skin, this acts as a decompression which in turn decreases pressure on pain receptors and allows for an increase in blood and lymph circulation.
The tapes ability to stretch and recoil when applied with stretch allows for a more extreme decompression nature which increases circulation to working muscles. This is a vital part of a training programme as muscles need circulation and oxygen to produce energy for necessary workloads. In the absence of oxygen, the working capacity of the muscles decreases and the body builds up toxins. The toxins after exercise are responsible for muscle fatigue and soreness.
